Butch’s passion for music started nearly from the day he was born. Learning how to play the guitar from his Dad and how to swing dance from his Mom, he was destined to live every day of his life with a song playing in his head.
An accomplished guitarist and songwriter, Butch had several top ten hits on Indie heaven’s top 100 “fan favs” chart as founder of the band 18:20. He also released a solo acoustic instrumental CD titled “Still” in the spring of 2015. The versatile instrumentalist also played bass guitar on Amy Gustafson’s CD “Live in the Tension”
Butch’s guitar style has many influences from Vince Gill to Eddie Van Halen. But, no guitarist has had more influence on him than Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top. “He can do more with two chords than any other guitarist I have ever heard”.

“Music is the language of the soul and it elevates the deepest part of human emotion.”
My mission and passion is to allow my soul to sing…..to bring each listener into the moment and experience the emotion of every song.
Raised in a family of horsemen and professional musicians, my love affair with country music began at a very young age. Growing up in Reno NV, I had many honors to open up for several famous country artists. After 35 plus years touring/performing the Northwest from taverns to televised main stage events and concerts, I have finally settled in Portland Oregon.
My music genre is blues, country, classic rock, and bluegrass.
My musical influences are: Linda Ronstadt, Emmy Lou Harris, Bonnie Raitt, Vince Gill, SRV, The Doobie Brothers and The Eagles.
I teach guitar and write original music.
I love writing songs for other people…. to bring life to their story.
My motto? To enjoy the journey wherever it takes me, one song at a time.
Drums, Rhythm and Lead Guitar, Banjo, Harmonica and Vocals
Growing up in a talented musical family, I was always surrounded by different genres of music and many instruments. I started playing drums at a very young age and expanded to stringed instruments in my teens. I played drums in our Church until age 15. At age 16, my brother, my two best friends and I started our band “Alchemy”. We performed all original music and won the “Battle of the Bands” in 2005 at the Roseland Theatre. I was also honored to be a member of the band “Cedar Teeth”, where I collaborated in the composition and arrangement of all the original music on the CD, “Hoot”. We had the awesome opportunity to play at the televised “Sundance Film Festival” in Park City, Utah in 2015.
My biggest influences are: Pink Floyd, Brian Wilson, Beatles, Radiohead, Beck, The Temptations, Ray Charles, Paul Simon, Steve Gadd, Danny Carey, Father John Misty and Stewart Copeland.
Bass Guitar, Vocals, Drums, Humor
I remember sitting in my 4th grade classroom at the age of 10 listening to a reel-to-reel Tascam recorder that was playing my teacher’s practice sessions on his drums and realizing, that’s what I want to do with my life; I was hooked! I played drums through grade school and Jr. High then transitioned to the bass guitar in high school only because my older brother (also a bass player) graduated and there was no one to take his place in the Concert and Jazz Bands. The rest is history.
My real love is Funk and Fusion Rock but I have found great success gigging with some great players in Top 40 Country and Classical Rock ensembles. My most influential time was spent touring the Northwest opening for famous artists and playing casino showrooms in the early 80’s. I have also had the awesome opportunity to serve as a worship leader with my wife in churches in Oregon.
My music influences are: Stanley Clark, Geddy Lee, Alain Caron, Louis Johnson, Peter (Mars) Cowling, Victor Wooter, John Deccon and Stuart Hamm.
I love connecting with a good drummer (my son Aaron!) and getting lost in the groove of a song. I love being on stage and entertaining folks. There really isn’t anything better in my opinion!
